Motor Coach Enhanced Safety Act of 2007 (S. 2326) Introduced

With the help of John and Joy Betts, the parents of David Betts who was one of five baseball players from Bluffton University killed in a motor coach crash in Atlanta, Georgia on March 2, 2007, Steven Collier and Janine Avila were instrumental in working with Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown and Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison to introduce the Motor Coach Enhanced Safety Act of 2007 (S. 2326) on November 8, 2007.  The bi-partisan bill implements critical recommendations made by the National Transportation and Safety Board to improve the safety and protection of motor coach occupants.  The bill requires the installation of seat belts and anti-ejection window glazing, stronger bus roofs, and better driver training standards, among other things.
